Rephrase: sol8 i86 as os server for sparc sol9?

Hi,
Please allow me to clarify my previous post since I've been
getting a few skewed responses:
I'm not trying to do a jumpstart here. Instead, I wish to use the
(relatively) new Sun Management OS service for the purpose of running
(permanently) hosts as diskless workstations. My question is this:

Is it possible to use a freshly-patched (Recommended and Security)
Solaris 8 (10/01) i86pc server to permanently serve the Solaris 9 (2/02)
OS to SPARC diskless client workstations? I have had success using the
Solaris 8 pc server to serve Solaris 8 SPARC hosts, but when I tried to
use it to serve Solaris 9 SPARC hosts, it failed to add the osservice,
complaining that the mediapath contained an invalid image. Does this
simply mean that Solaris 8 will not serve Solaris 9 images? Or is there a
workaround or patch I need to apply?

Thanks in advance; Will summarize; Please email me if this question is
still unclear. Please see examples of successes and failures below.

[note success with solaris 8:]

# /usr/sadm/bin/smosservice add -p xxxxxxxx -H rosiepots:898 -- -o rosiepots -x mediapath=/export/jumpstart/Solaris_8_SPARC -x platform=sparc.sun4m.Solaris_8 -x cluster=SUNWCXall -x locale=en_US
Loading Tool: com.sun.admin.osservermgr.cli.OsServerMgrCli from rosiepots:898
Login to rosiepots as user root was successful.
Download of com.sun.admin.osservermgr.cli.OsServerMgrCli from rosiepots:898 was successful.
#

[note failure with solaris 9:]

# /usr/sadm/bin/smosservice add -p xxxxxxxx -H rosiepots:898 -- -o rosiepots -x mediapath=/export/jumpstart/Solaris_9 -x platform=sparc.sun4m.Solaris_9 -x cluster=SUNWCXall -x locale=en_US

[tried it like this too since they seem to have changed the 'everything'
cluster name sometime in the last few years -- no dice:]

# /usr/sadm/bin/smosservice add -p xxxxxxxx -H rosiepots:898 -- -o rosiepots -x mediapath=/export/jumpstart/Solaris_9 -x platform=sparc.sun4m.Solaris_9 -x cluster=SUNWCall -x locale=en_US

Download of com.sun.admin.osservermgr.cli.OsServerMgrCli from rosiepots:898 was successful.
