Solaris 10 and cheap hubs

Hi,

I currently have a setup like so:

Linux/solaris9/hp-ux ---> HUB1 ---> HUB2 ---> Firewall --> Internet

The slackware linux pc, the solaris 9 and the hp-ux 11 can ping the
firewall no problem.

However, when i connected an E250 to HUB1, with solaris 10, I can ping
the other hosts connected to HUB1, but I cannot ping the firewall ??

I tried both the hme and qfe interfaces on the E250, same result.

The hubs are the same (both really cheap no-name 10Mb Half Duplex hubs).

I would have thought that if solaris 10 was able to talk through HUB1,
that it would get through HUB2 also.

I have ndd'd the E250/solaris 10 NICS to run at 10Mb half duplex. The
firewall is a fedora core 3 linux pc with 2 nics. tcpdump shows nothing
on the internal firewall interface.

im starting to think it must be the hubs, or perhaps mtu size (1500) or
something?

I will summarise :-)

any help greatly appreciated.
thanks,
ivo
