still unsolved: Solaris 10 and cheap hubs

Thanks a lot for the replies so far from Anthony and Benoit

to clarify a few points

the nic is not set to autonegotiate, it is hardcoded to 10Mb half duplex
The firewall is the default gateway.
The subnet masks/ip's/gateways are all set correctly.
I am pinging IP addresses, not DNS names :-)
There is no rule on the firewall blocking pings from the E250. (I also
tried telnetting to port 22, tcpdump shows nothing.

There is another thing of note - every now and then (maybe 1 in 10
times), when i start the ping -s to the other machines on HUB1, the ping
first packet takes a few minutes to work! after that, all packets work
no problem.

When i ctrl-C the ping and start again, it just works perfectly
immediately again.

This is why i think it might be the hubs. strange though, that solaris 9
has no problems at all, but solaris 10 does.
