Thanks to all the people who replied so far.
Andy Lee from England suggested i do ping -ns
I tried this here in work with a solaris 10 ultra10 and a linux laptop
which wasnt in DNS, and this showed that ping -s didnt work, whereas
ping -ns did work.
it still would not explain why i could ping the systems on the same hub,
but im hopeful that this was it. I guess if this was it i will have to
add firewall entries to the e250's hosts file for ping, telnet etc to
work too.
I will check this evening and update this message..
