Internet Relay Chat:
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. By connecting to an IRC Server you can
talk to people in chat rooms from all over the world via a text based
chat program. More information about IRC can be obtained from
http://www.irchelp.org/.
You need to install an IRC client program on your workstation to
access the Oracle FAQ IRC server. If you do not have a client,
download one for free from
http://www.mirc.com/.
After successful installation, connect to the Oracle FAQ IRC server at
orafaq.com. Use the default port (port 6667). Join one of the following
chat rooms:
- #OracleDBA
- #OracleDeveloper
- #OracleUser
On-Line Web Chat Board:
Most firewalls that companies use to protect their networks from hackers
block-out Chat/IRC communications. If you have trouble connecting to the
Oracle FAQ IRC server, you can use this secure IRC Web Gateway.
The Rules Of The House:
- If you ever want to get a reply, post your question to the appropriate message forum.
- Personal attacks and flames will NOT be tolerated.
- Message boards are not moderated but messages may be deleted from a
forum at the discretion of the forum administrator in order to keep
things tidy and orderly.
- All messages and replies posted will be public (unless otherwise stated).
