[HPADM] configuring a scsi tape drive without SAM

Can someone help me out? I installed the base OS 11.0 and sam wasnt
included. I'm now trying to back up the instalallation to a SCSI SDLT
which doesnt recognize the tape drive. How do I install the scsi tape
drivers without aid of sam?
