Running syncvg in parallel using -P flag

I'll have to re-synchronise an entire volume group on Sunday and I'd like to
minimise the elapsed time.
Does anyone know how smart the "-P" option is?
There doesn't seem much point in using it if it will lead to multiple
partitions on a single disk being synchronised in parallel. Would I be
better off doing multiple "syncvg -l"s in parallel, so that I can control
which disks are being operated on?
