Tru64 Managers:
I have an AlphaServer DS10 running Tru64 4.0F. The box is new
and after resolving some minor hardware issues, am having some trouble
with video support. I was hoping some of you may have had similar
experiences or may be able to direct me toward a solution.
Graphics Cards:
3 x ELSA Gloria Synergy 8 PCI Graphics Controllers
OS is Tru64 4.0F
1. My main question regards support for these cards. There is
3D/Multihead support (I need multi-head support) for these cards on
Patch Kit 1 as well as on the Associated Products CD, but no detail on
how they relate or the order in which they should be installed. I also
have Patch Kits 7 and 8, which I would eventually like to install. Has
been able to install this support with success?
2. Should the Patch Kits be installed before or after the Associated
Products ?
3. Can I be confident that Patch Kits are cumulative, such that I can
install only Patch Kit 8 and avoid the multiple iterations of dupatch ?
I have some older Alpha 400s that are now running Tru64 4.0F w/
PK7 and they do not exhibit the same issue with large Oracle forms. The
hardware is different, but this hardware is new and the video cards were
specifically recommended for the applications we have. I believe, from
the patch descriptions, that once I get proper support installed and PK7
installed, I will be all set. However, when I install the video support
from the Assoc. Products CD, the dupatch utility tells me that it can't
install the video support and fixes from PK1. So I'm looking for anyone
who might have had the same video driver installation problems and/or
some clarification on how the patches and associated products should be
installed. For the most part, things work fine, until I pull up a large
Oracle form with a large number of items to scroll through horizontally.
When I get past a certain number of items, the form sort of explodes.
Once again, the older workstations and a new DS10, all with different
graphics adapters but the same OS & PK, work fine with the same form.
Any ideas or direction would be appreciated.
