I would like to thank Tyler Hardison and Graham Allan for their input.
HP has an early release patch from January 20th of this year that
addresses and corrects the problem that I was experiencing.

Hi,

I'm having a printing problem with Tru64 v5.1B NHD7 and an HP4100 laser.
The job is sent to the printer and starts fine, if the printer jams or
needs paper, an operator will address the problem, put the printer back
online and the job continues for a bit or may even finish but then the
same job starts to reprint from the beginning. This application has been
running on a Alpha4100/Tru64 4.0D system and the same printer for 2
years. We switched the application to an ES45/Tru64 5.1B last week. The
printing was tested but with perhaps smaller print jobs. The queue is
defined the same and nothing has changed with the printer. I have since
tried to change some settings in the printer (jam recovery >auto>on>off,
Auto Continue >on>off) and this has made no difference.
The printer's error file, /var/adm/lp57err is empty.
The printer is using a built-in JetDirect card.

Here is my printcap entry
# HP4100 laser printer in Orderfil OFLAZ2
lp57|57|oflaz2:\
         :lf=/usr/adm/lp57err:\
         :lp=:\
         :rm=oflaz2:\
         :rp=text:\
         :mx#0:\
         :sd=/usr/spool/lpd57:

Thanks in advance,

Gary LaBonte
