Netrain woes

Hello Managers,
                 I have setup netrain on one of my partitions of my
wildfire system running Tru64 5.1a pk4 .

After configuring the netrain I have serious a drop in network performance .

I am configuring Netrain with the interface ee0 ee1 which are COMPAQ
Intel 82558 .

The switch in question is Cisco Catalyst 4000 .

I have tried enabling /disabling negotiation , hard setting speed to 100
and enabling duplex in all sort of permutation combinations,
Both at Switch and on the interface by using "lan_config -i nr0"

The tool I used to test is "nttcp" .

Any Ideas or switches which I should use or not use .
