DS10L Disk Problem

I am trying to install a new boot ide disk into a DS10L using Compaq Unix 5.1A.
The firmware version 6.0 has been installed. The new disk is a Seagate Barracuda
ATA IV (ST340016A). Ide disks can be used in DS10L systems. The boot of the
operating system from the CD proceeds smoothly until SCSI errors begin to
appear. Note that this system has no SCSI controller or SCSI disk but has a
video card (Oxygen 3D) installed in the only expansion slot. The boot messages
are shown below:

normal boot prior to this point
ata0 at pci 0 slot 13
ata0: ACER M1543C
scsi0 at ata0 slot 0 rad 0
cam_logger: scsi event packet
cam_logger: bus1 target 0 lun 0
ss_perform_timeout
timeout on request on the bus, scheduled bus reset
active CCB at time of error
.....
The system then repeats the scsi messages shown above and does not
complete the cdrom boot.
ACER is the embedded ide drive controller. Note that the drive appears
correctly under >>>sh dev .
Does anyone have a suggestion for solving this dilemma? Many thanks.
