Dear SUN brothers in arms
Thank you all for all the replies. However problem persists. I have been
with this problem for over three weeks now. I roamed the Internet, SUN
solve web site, news groups, in vain. I have sent to your group as a
last resort.
p.s.This is my first experience ever with SUN, I am migrating from Linux
on X86 and PPC.
In summery; The E250 starts, and freezes on the OK prompt, whether
normal or testing, or locked. The keyboard does not respond. It does not
respond also from the hyper terminal via PC. No key strokes can do
anything. I hoped that reading the long analysis can give a hint on
something defective in the hardware. That is why I included it in the
previous message. I am sorry I did not clear that at first.
This is what I did:
1. From the PC, I used two different laptops, and upgraded hyper
terminal to private edition, after removing the GFX card. Then
connected to serial A using null modem, still keyboard strokes do
not work.
2. From E250, I used three different functioning keyboards, after
adding the Raptor GFX. still keyboard strokes do not work.
3. Shut down, removed HDD's, CPU's, RAM chips and put them back again.
still keyboard strokes do not work.
4. Removed the RCS card /disconnected it. then used hyper term. still
keyboard strokes do not work.
5. Used a SUN monitor.
6. Because there is no OS installed, the 4 HDD's are useless when it
comes to key strokes. However, I removed them, and tried without
them, and with them. still keyboard strokes do not work.
7. I downloaded the SUN E250 white paper from SUN Solve, and in
details followed the hardware map, made sure jumpers are setup
right. No results.
8. I purchased an official copy of Solaris 8 , 10/2000. tried to boot
from any of the CD's with the start up, whether CD 1 of 2, or
Installation, or flash PROM. CD blinks 7 times, but no boot. and
still keyboard strokes do not work.
9. I purchased a DVD SCSI, and an official copy of Solaris 9 on DVD. I
added it to the E250, start up, also DVD blinks 7 times, but no
installation picks up.
Still, keyboards from hyper term on PC or SUN cannot work at all. As if
they are not there.
Any ideas? what am I doing wrong?
