iPlanet Server as iPlanet client?

I seem to recall seeing in some Sun documentation that an iPlanet
server should not be configured as its own client, but I never saw
an explanation as to why. While I'd prefer to have only local
accounts on the LDAP server, I have an environment where I have a
master and slave LDAP server which both need to authenticate off
of LDAP. Does anyone know what the reasons for not configuring a
server to authenticate off of itself are, or if I could set the
master and slave to point to each other successfully? Has anyone
done this?
