Apache htaccess

Hi Managers,

I have followed the WEB site documentation to how to setup htaccess
(restrict users accessing directories). But I doesn't prompt me for
password. This is what I have done:

1. In the parent directory of the restricted directory created .htaccess
file as:
AuthUserFile /var/apache/htdocs/.htpasswd
AuthGroupFile /dev/null
AuthName EnterPassword
AuthType Basic
require valid-user

2.
Created .htpasswd in /var/apache/htdocs directory.

Do I have to do anything with httpd.conf file?
