Thanks all for your responses. As per your suggestions and reading "AT"
command guide, I used +++ (talk to modem)then AT h (hangup)and then ~~. to
disconnect gracefully. This combination works for us.
BTW, there is a option to set inactivity timeout in mins.
Set it with...
AT s19=30 => this sets timeout to 30 mins.
More can be set by running
AT s$
