I working with an Ultra5 running Solaris 9. In an attempt to harden the box
I removed packages. Now, I am receiving the following error message when
booting, "/usr/sbin/vold[176]: vol_init (can't communicate with kernel).
I am assuming this has something to do with vold, as I also receive the
error message when I run /usr/sbin/vold. I put the associated vol packages
back on the system, volr, volu, volux. I performed modload for vol and
modinfo reported the vol driver as installed. However, I am still getting
the above message and unable to find the answer on the internet.
- any help would is appreciated.
