Hi Every one,

I have a problem with my Ultra E 450. I have 10 hard disks in it and I am sure that all of them are not being used. I would like to find out which are not being used and also I have a dead disk on them. I need to pull that out and restore the data on the dead disk from previous backup onto a new disk.

The below table is a snapshot of my /etc/vfstab file

#device device mount FS fsck mount mount
#to mount to fsck point type pass at boot options
#
fd - /dev/fd fd - no -
/proc - /proc proc - no -
swap - /tmp tmpfs - yes size=800m,nosuid
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s3 - - swap - no -
/dev/dsk/c3t1d0s1 - - swap - no -
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0 / ufs 1 no logging
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s6 /usr ufs 1 no logging,noatime
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s1 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s1 /var ufs 1 no logging
/dev/md/dsk/d2 /dev/md/rdsk/d2 /var/nsr ufs 3 yes -
/dev/dsk/c2t2d0s1 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0s1 /export/home/sales ufs 5 yes logging,quota
/dev/md/dsk/d4 /dev/md/rdsk/d4 /export/home/training ufs 5 yes quota,nosuid
#/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s5 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s5 /.cache ufs 2 no logging
/dev/md/dsk/d0 /dev/md/rdsk/d0 /mnt ufs 5 no nosuid

/export/home/sales is the one that is not being mounted and it is not listed in the /etc/mnttab as well. listing on the above mount point gives me a total 0 result.

The contents /dev/dsk as follows

I see the contents of /dev/dsk directory as follows
c0tid0s0
c0tid0s1
c0tid0s2
c0tid0s3
c0tid0s4
c0tid0s5
c0tid0s6
c0tid0s7
Where i=0 to 3

Any Suggestions on this. I need to fix this asap.

The gist of the story is " How to identify a dead disk from a stack of disks"?
