Linux/Nis Integration

I have built a SUSE Linux 9.3 NFS Server(nis-utils 1.4) but I can't edit
the Nis tables from this server. I get a "can't modify entry: Permission
denied" each time I try. I checked using nisdefaults that the root is
authenticated. I can niscat ok but not nistbladm. The permissions to the
tables look the same either on the Master(Solaris 7) or the NFS Server.
I don't know what else to do to achieve this, can anyone suggest what I
have not done correctly.
