raidctl hardware mirroring question

Hi there

On my v440 if I want to mirror the root/boot disk then in multiuser mode
I just type

# raidctl -c c1t0d0 c1t1d0
Volume 'c1t0d0' created

And all is good

However.....on my x4100 if I do the same (mirror the root disk) it says

# raidctl -c c0t0d0 c0t1d0
Cannot create RAID volume, disk "c0t0d0" is mounted

Strange message because of course its mounted ! it's the root filesystem
!! Ive seen some docs online that suggest you cant create a raid volume
with mounted filesystems on the master disk and that you need to boot it
off the network using "boot net -s" but you obviously can because I did
it on the v440

Is this supposed to happen or is there a problem with my x4100??

Any help would be greatly appreciated
