Greetings,
Just received a SunFire V245 (OpenBoot 4.22.18, 8192 MB
memory installed), and I try to load Solaris 9/05 Software
SPARC platform edition (1 of 2) from the original Sun CD
(Part No. 705-1543-10, September 2005, Rev. A).
I used this CD several time previously, and it is in pristine
condition.
According to Sun the V245 supports Solaris 9/05:
http://www.sun.com/servers/entry/v245/specs.xml
When I try to boot from the CDROM 1 of 2, I am getting the
following error message:
{1} ok boot
cdrom
Boot device: /pci@1e,600000/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/ide@1f/cdrom@0,0:f File
and args:
boot: cannot open
kernel/sparcv9/unix
Enter filename [kernel/sparcv9/unix]:
I've got a few copies of this CD, same result.
However, if I insert the Solaris 10 6/06 DVD the system
(Part No. 708-0144-10, July 2006, Rev A) the system boots
without any problem!
Any suggestion why the boot process can't load the kernel
from the CD?
Regards
Ioan
