FC-AL RAID Array Disk Configuration

I have a Sun V880 with 12 disks attached to 2 fiber channel controllers(at least thats how they appear to be connected) and I am wanting to configure them into two raid arrays. One array would be RAID 1 using two disks for the OS and related software with the remaing disks making up a RAID 1+0 array. Would this be the best configuration? Or should I make it all one RAID 1+0 array? Also since the disks show up on each controller would it be good idea to span the controllers in creating the mirrors? I haven't worked with fiber channel before and all the docs I have been reading have nothing on how to best utilize them in redundant configurations or what to do if a component should fail. The disks in the system are getting older so its a concern. Any help would be appreciated. Including pointers on where to find more information.

Thanks again,

Tony
