AGAIN: Two systems can reach other systems, but can not reach each other. Why?

Hello,

I have received bunch of replies. Too many to list.
Thank you everyone :-)

The problem is still unsolved. It is not a simple
netmask issue as many suggested. Both of these two
systems have no problem to reach other systems on the
same subnet. They just can not reach each other. ARP,
TRACEROUTE, NETSTAT commands do not show each other.
Both of them have been rebooted. No use. Their MAC
addresses are different, and they are located far
enough (20').

Some suggested it may be a VLAN issue. I kind of
agree. However, our experienced network administrators
disagree, so they haven't done anything yet to
troubleshoot the problem.

Any more thoughts? Thank you again!

Here is some more info:
1)Pinging IPs can not get answers from each other.
2)Their IPs have never been changed.
3)They could reach each other until I found the
problem today.
4)ifconfig outputs look normal. No mac address
conflict that is possible for Sun systems.
5)Each of them can reach others and others can reach
them.
6)It is not a DNS issus since I ping by IPs.
It's just bizarre. Thanks a lot everyone, but keep
going please :)

Hi,
I have a strange problem here: there are 2 systems in
a specific subnet. Both of them are SPARC 20 running
Solaris 2.6 :(
Each of them can reach any other system in this subnet
and other subnets. They could reach each other 2~3
weeks ago. Nothing has been changed since then. The
problem: They can NOT reach each other now. Pinging or
Snooping on one system can not be received from the
other system. What can be the problem? I don't have
any clue now.

Please help. Thank you!
