Boot Disk Mirror

Hi All,
I got a mirror the root ("/") partition. I wish to know if the mirror
will work if 1st disk failed to boot up, or I need to do extra job to
make the 2nd disk to be able to boot up if the 1st disk failed.

Any ideas?
