Solaris Resolver Question

When my Solaris machine was rebooted, the /etc/resolv.conf contained
this line
options retrans:1 retry:1

I have since commented out the line. I assume commenting it removes it
from being processed.

I know that the nameserver information is read each time resolver needs
to run.

My question is "Are these options also read and changed each time the
DNS resolver runs?"

Commenting them out appears to have no effect and I need to know what I
should do to test if this is why I'm getting some DNS timeouts. The
machine is attempting to do reverse lookups on email domains before
accepting inbound SMTP traffic.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Stan Hearn
