first, many thanks to Aly Dharshi for his e-help.
what i ended up doing was using the migrate_mail2.pl script in the
examples/ directory of the Mail::IMAPClient perl module to perform this
task.
i simply wrapped this with a /bin/sh script that looped thru a list of
users/passwords and called it via:
migrate_imap.pl -s OLD_SERVER -u USER -p PASS -S NEW_SERVER -U
USER@domain.com -P PASS -v
