Bad /etc/vfstab

I have a bad /etc/vfstab but have a backup file that is good.
To fix it, I am doing the following:

ok> boot cdrom -s

# mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /mnt
# cd /mnt/etc
# cp vfstab.orig vfstab
# cat vfstab (ensure it is the right vfstab)

When I reboot, I get the same error that vfstab is bad.
When I look at /etc/vfstab, it is back to the bad one.

Why is this not saving?

Thanks!
