Hello Gurus,
I have a SS20 running Solaris 8(SunOS 5.8 Generic 108528-03 August 2000),
that is acts as our main NIS server, POP server, DNS server, License
server for about 50 people. I installed Solaris 8 in Dec last year, and i
havent had any troubles with it since.
This morning it was "out of processes" and so i had to reboot it.
Under /var/adm/messages all i can see are entries from sendmail saying
that it cant fork of a process etc.
I want to able to find out what process(es) caused this, and then maybe
patch it, upgrade etc.
I did a Stop-A, and then sync and it created a vmcore.0 and unix.0 which i
am looking at using adb, but i dont think they even are going to direct me
in the right direction.
I have heard that NIS on Solaris 7 caused similar problems.
(from 109328-02)
Has anyone had similar experiences.
I saw Casper's post to comp.unix.solaris in Dec 2000, and he talked about
running some servers internally, after setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to
/usr/lib/lwp
Is that still the only workaround.
I will summarize.
Regards.
