Question:
Can I re-configure lp spooler email: NO
Is there a way to disable lp spooler email? NO
From the master Bill Hasell:
===================
This is a very common request. The email error message is hardcoded in the
lp spooler
and cannot be changed. You must use /etc/mail/aliases to create a valid
email address.
The lp spooler always sends email to the user that starts each lp job.
You have two choices:
1. If email is not used on this system, simply disable the
sendmail system, or in /etc/mail/aliases, add every user
name in the passwd file with an alias to /dev/null
2. If you need email other than the lp spooler, you'll need
to insert a mail script to process every message by using
/etc/mail/aliases, or you can download and configure the
mail processor called procmail
From Martin:
=========
First check to see if the lp command is aliased to "lp -m". This would send a
status email.
Second check through the script for that printer in /etc/lp/interface to see
if anything has been added for status emails.
