hi folks:

i have several older hp 9000 700 series workstations and i'd like
to set them up as servers without monitors. they can be quite
useful as low end servers.

i have one 712 running without a monitor after modifying the console
path in isl.

i set up the console to go to the serial port and i use a pc running
a serial conection to run a terminal session. works great once the
system is up.

i do have one problem. the boot screen does not go to the serial
port. i start getting information on the screen after the system
begins to boot up. i don't get anything before it starts to boot up.

the problem with this is that i no longer have access to the boot
screen ie cannot boot in single user mode, cannot query devices,
cannot change boot device, etc. all things that are very useful if
trouble shooting.

does anybody know if it's possible to get the boot screen on the
serial port, or if not, how can i go back to enabling the console
on the graphics path?

thanx
