[HPADM] Scripting question

Admins:

I need to write a short script to find specific files and mail them out to
individual users.
These are manifest files created at 9:00 AM with the previous days date
appended to the end
of the file.

My question is, how can I write this script to get the previous days date?
Does the date command do this?
