Thanks to all that replied. I receive many replies that said that renaming
the logical volumes under /dev/vgname would work. I also receive just as
many replies stating that it was not advisable and that using vgexport -m
vgname.map vgname, edit vgname.map to change the logical volume names then
to a vgimport would be the supported method. I decided to go with the
vgexport/vgimport method to be save. I did this on Saturday and everything
worked great.

Subject: [HPADM] Renaming logical volumes
I found and entry in the archives on renaming volume groups and logical
volumes but wanted to get a little reassurance from the group. I just need
to re-name the logical volumes in a volume group. The entry in the archives
said to just rename the lvo and rlvols under the volume group directory and
change the /etc/fstab entries. Is this a safe thing to do? Or is there a
better way to do this?
