I will try that...what do you think about the dsmc sched not respawning
or even starting?

I was wondering...after upgrading to AIX 5.1 has anyone had any
issues with inittab entries executing? We recently upgraded the server
to AIX 5.1 ML05 and ever since then inittab does not appear to be able
to start our dsmc sched process, load kernel extensions for oracle, etc.
The system boots up fine and all the entries in inittab meet syntax
requirements. Any ideas?

        Sample entries:

        adsm:2:respawn:/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmc sched >
/dev/null 2>&1 # ADSM Scheduler
        dsmcad:2:once:/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmcad # ADSM Web
Client
        orapw:2:wait:/etc/loadext -l /etc/pw-syscall
        orakstat:2:wait:/etc/loadext -l /etc/ora_kstat
