A question for you all ...

The SSA Cache Battery on our system says it wants to be replaced ... is this
battery used all the time, or is it just used in case of power fluctuations?
We're trying to understand this. Is the use of this battery similar to the
clock battery in a PC ... if it ain't there, it don't work right?

Just trying to understand, and sorry as always for the huge disclaimer at
the end ... thanks in advance to all who reply!
