Following the link:
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=tss1fq101463, we found

Question: "Can a customer burn a CD using a previously stored 'mksysb'
image on their RS/6000 using AIX 4.3.3 or 5.1?"

Answer: "Assuming your customer is using a CD-RW device that is supported
by AIX they can use "mkcd" command with the apropriate flag indicating
that a previous mksysb is to be used. The mkcd command will create a
bootable CD using the image file provided. REview the "mkcd" command in
the AIX Documentation Library. This is available at
http://www.rs6000.ibm.com/doc_link/en_US/a_doc_lib/aixgen/topnav/topnav.htm
The process is supported on the newly announced DVD-RAM product 7210-025."

I think the last line should answer your question.

Best Regards,

Alexandre Kazuo Sato.

Subject: aix 4.3.3 mkcd to DVD-R?

I searched the Archive and only found one reference to doing this, but a
couple of the messages in the thread came up blank. We'd like to add a
DVD-R device to our system to do backups of the database, but I'd also
like to be able to do mkcd backups. I know 5.2 has the mkdvd command, but
will the 4.3.3 mkcd work with a DVD-R?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks,
Pat Lieberg
