You can do the splitcopy BUT you must have all the datafiles (database) closed before spiltting off the mirrors. Another way would be to take a few tablespaces off line at a time( this will close the datafiles that belong to these tablespaces) depending on how you have them setup on your LV's and then split those off for the copy, but keep in mind that your logs will grow when you have the tablespaces off line.
