our oracle guys are shooting for 1000 filesystems (logical volumes, actually, they are raw), but have run up against the 32-bit ceiling on that.

Subject: filesystem

Let's say I have 6 disks (hdisk1, hdisk2, hdisk3, hdisk4, hdisk5, hdisk6)
and I want to create 4 filesystems on these disks, spread each filesystem
across all disks for Oracle database.

/fs1
/fs2
/fs3
/fs4

Do I gain any performance by creating more filesystems on the same number of
disks?

/fs1
/fs2
/fs3
/fs4
/fs5
/fs6
/fs7
/fs8

Joseph
