I have done it.... In worse situations. But if you don't have to, why
bother. What you restore is probably a few days old too. Would rather
have a system that all the files are a few days old than one with a mix.
But it can, and has been done.

Somehow, loads of files got deleted from /vcar on one of our nodes. Like
most of the contents of /var/adm/ras and /var/adm/SPlogs. The node's still
up and running, oddly enough.
I've decided to re-install the node from a mksysb, as that way I'm
confident
that everything will be OK but for future reference do you think I could
have got away with restoring the individual missing files, (as best I could
- the mksysb is a couple of days old) and rebooting?
