We're looking at replacing it with a new drive... not sure that I'd trust a used tape drive if I had the option to buy a new one. I think we've settled on single DLT4's, since we have a couple DLT's in service and they seem to be pretty solid...

Subject: 8mm tape drives?

Folks,

We just had one of our trusty Exabyte Eliant 820's die on us, and need to find some sort of replacement. Unfortunately, Exabyte doesn't sell the 820's anymore...

We don't need to back up a massive amount of data, a 14-20GB drive would do just fine - anyone got any suggestions? I'd prefer something that could read the tapes from the 820's, as we have several still in service, which we don't have the budget to replace currently...

TIA,
