For 433=>51 you have to do a migration install, (or preservation, or
overwrite). A simple update_all won't work.
Ideally, restore your system then do the migration. If that's not possible
you might try doing a migration install of AIX 5.1 anyway, but I don't know
whether that will work now.

I have been running aix433 here, and did an update to 51 via smitty
update_all using 1,2,3,4,5 CD.
Now the box is displaying "Starting sofware, please wait" (the message
remains after the night), so I am guessing, I have forgot to update boot
image or something like this
