F40 not supported for AIX 5.2?

Can anyone substantiate whether an F40 will run AIX 5.2?

The latest redbook, AIX V4.3 to 5L Migration Guide, SG24-6924, says it is
not supported as it is a PReP machine, and that only machines where bootinfo
-p responds chrp are supported.

The F40's bootinfo -p response is rspc.

I thought only MCA was being dropped.

Unsupported often means that it will work, just IBM will not support you and
you're on your own.

Is anyone out there running AIX 5.2 on an F40?
