which authentication for SP remote commands?

Greetings,

I am in the process of setting up a new SP complex and was wondering if anyone has a link to a sort of 'compare and contrast' of which authentication methods to use for remote commands?

The methods I think that are available are: DCE, K4, K5 and SSH(?). I am only familiar with K4 in this type of environment.

Can anyone offer some advice?
