smbmount relies on a linux-specific feature, i believe...i think it only
works on linux.

Subject: Re: AIX Fast-Connect and win2000

I've got a related question.

I've trying to mount a windows share on my AIX box, instead of the
usual mount a Unix share in windows.

I've been working with Fast Connect and Samba and M$ Services for Unix,
but none have a usable solution for my particular case. I've read a
bit about a couple other commercial products - but a purchase is going
to be my last resort.

Only the out-of-date product Connections offers that option.
(which we are currently using on an older 4.3.2 box, but I'm reluctantly
going to have to install on our new AIX5.1/B80 box.)

also, smbmount from Samba does not build on AIX.

NFS generated way too much network traffic noise for my LAN/WAN guys.

Reading numerous pages on IBM's site - I found a reference to bos.cifs_fs
lpp that will allow this, but I can't that package anywhere.

Any one have this package or any other solutions?

TIA,
Troy
