HACMP, hdisk with no VG assignment.James,

Uhmm, somehow the VG reference for the hdisk has been removed from the ODM. This would usually happen when you export a volume group.

Try this:

Assumptions:
Node1 contains backvg VG and backvg has hdisk1 (the same hdisk on Node2).
Node2 is the development node.

Make sure you do this when there is very little or no activities on the volume group.

On Node1: varyonvg -b -u backvg
On Node2: importvg -L backvg hdisk1
On Node1: varyonvg backvg

I hope this helps and let me know.

Rolando

Subject: HACMP, hdisk with no VG assignment.

I have inherited a two-node HACMP cluster with SSA disks. Two of the volume groups on the Production node contain filesystems that are configured to failover to the Development node. However, one of the hdisks on the Development node does not have a corresponding reference to the volume group on the Production node. Rather than belonging to VG "backvg", the hdisk has a VG reference of "none". The hdisk does, however, reference the correct PVID. How should I go about correcting this?

  Thanks,
