Is the user an actual AIX user? Also the user has to be defined to the Fast
Connect server. For testing I created an AIX user called 'fast' and gave him
a share directory of /u/fast. Make sure your server process is up and
running.
Share Name Share Type Path Name/Queue Name Share Description
---------- ---------- --------------------
-----------------
FAST File /u/fast Fast
Connect Test User Share
I normally connect mapping a drive through Windows Explorer. If your server
is up and running, you have an AIX user and password defined to Fast
Connect, along with a share path, you shouldn't have a problem.
One other thing you might want to consider is fully qualifying your share
name.
Like: <file://\\hostname.domain.com\> \\hostname.domain.com\<share name>

Darryl

Here is the answer to your problem on Windows 2000:
Each win2k client machine needs a registry change to allow access from a
Fast Connect share. Fortunately the value name is already included in
Win2k's registry. Just change the 0 to a 1. Here is the path and the DWORD
value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkStation\Param
eters
Value Name: EnablePlainTextPassword
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Data: 1
Reboot and map the share like anything else.

Darryl

Subject: AIX fast connect and win2000
Hi All ,
I have installed and configured AIX fast connect on AIX4339 . I can access
shares defined on AIX system using windows 95 and NT but not 2000 .
Does anyone know if there are any issues accessing 2000 ? When I try net use
command I get access denied error . It won't accept user name and password
.
