I must have done something incorrect....
Entries for vmtune and other software was missing. I will need to look into this further, just chalked it up to upgrade issue and moved on.

I've never heard of a software upgrade replacing /etc/inittab. I'm
surprised at that and can't see why there would be any need to do it.
