Re: Can't remove directory-why?

It's funny that you should have this problem. We just had a similar problem
on a directory where the user had flooded it with several hundred thousand
files and used up all of our 1.2M inodes. We were able to remove what seemed
to be all the files, and restore some of our inodes, but we could not remove
the directory. We could rename it and did so the user could create new
directory in its place. The faulty directory was part of GPFS on our SP
system, so we figured it was an anomaly in GPFS.

The only way we could get rid of the faulty directory was to take down the
filesystem and rebuild it.

Sorry for the bleak news.
