Can't remove directory-why?

I have an H50 (AIX 4.3.3.10).

I am trying to remove all data on the /u14 fs.

I keep getting the error message: rmdir: 0653-611 Directory PROD is not
empty.

There are no files in any of these directories:
/app/prodmgr/1103/common/PROD

console output:
Hotspare:root:[/u14/app/prodmgr/1103/common/PROD]
(800)==> rm * -r
rm: *: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.
rm: -r: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.

Hotspare:root:[/u14/app/prodmgr/1103/common/PROD]
(801)==> cd ..

Hotspare:root:[/u14/app/prodmgr/1103/common]
(802)==> rmdir PROD
rmdir: 0653-611 Directory PROD is not empty.

Can anyone help in this situation?

Many thanks.
