maybe not network booting, but ssa/san/nas storage...

Ah yes, but there is much more to consider than CPU's. What of internal
disk storage ? The F40/50 handled this quite well with 18 internal disk
drive bays. The F80 took it down to 12 I believe.

I think the direction IBM is moving with the smaller # of internal drive
bays is perhaps network booting. The H80 only supported 2 internal disk
drive bays, which we populated with 18.2GB drives.

The newer machines do indeed have much higher CPU and memory stuff, but I
think we've sacrificed in internal storage.

Bill.

I think you have some of your numbers mixed up.

There has never been an H60 that I know of. The H70 was an upgrade from
the
H50 (no H60 in between).

The p670 is overkill for upgrade path of H70. A p670 is basically a p690
built with CPU's that that won't function as dual CPU's. Therefore it is
only capable of 1/2 the total CPU's of a p690.

rPerf values:

Model rPerf

p640 (2 CPU) 2.27
p640 (4 CPU) 4.01
p630 (1 CPU) 1.69
p630 (2 CPU) 2.66
p630 (4 CPU) 5.07
p660 (1 CPU) 1.91
p660 (2 CPU) 3.49
p660 (4 CPU) 5.85
p660 (6 CPU) 8.23
p690 (16 CPU) 28.96
p690 (24 CPU) 39.95
p690 (32 CPU) 50.56

6H1 is the replacement for the H60.

IMHO, p670 is a closer match to the H70.

Is it 6H1?
