DAT tape and drive compatibility

Folks,

I am creating "mksysb" tapes on a Regatta server running AIX 5.1.

The tape drive is a 4mm DAT Type 4.

Will Type 3 4mm DAT drives read Type 4 4mm DAT tapes?

I don't have a Type 3 4mm drive available to test....
