Replacing a failing disk in an AS800

Managers,

I have 4 identical disks in my AS800 running Tru64 5.1B. One of the
older disks is up to 31 defects, so I plan on replacing it.

The drive itself is part of a LSM stripe which contains swap and the
/var AdvFS domain. Since all 4 bays are full, I'm assuming the
procedure will be something along the lines of:

1) Shut the machine down
2) Temporarily replace a drive with the new drive
3) Boot off CD
4) Copy data from the failing drive to the new drive
5) ???
6) Shut the machine down
7) Replacing the failing drive with the new drive
8) Replace temporarily removed drive
9) Power machine back up

Does this seem sound? If so, I'm a little iffy about step 5. The old
& new drives are identical models. Should I just do a raw dd copy?
What commands do I need to issue to give the new drive the same device
name as the old drive so I don't mess up LSM?

Thanks!
-Dustin
